The service & software

"premium forex" is a software package that updates end-of-day prices from the interbank foreign exchange market (see under "market coverage" on the menu to the left).

To set up the service, there are two installers involved -

The premium forex program installer.

The forex data history installer.

These installers are available to subscribers, or trial users, from the downloads area of our site. The extent of the data history provided by the history installer will depend on whether you have purchased the "full" forex history. If not, you will only be entitled to the shorter "trial" history, which is available free of charge.

Once installation is complete, the service is easy to run - it's simply a matter of ensuring connection to the internet, opening the premium forex application and clicking the "update" button. There are no restrictions on the number of updates that can be performed. When the program connects to our data servers, it supplies any data that hasn't as yet been downloaded. If you have been away on holidays, the intervening period is filled in automatically.

The service employs 4 data servers in different locations around the world. If one server happens to be down, or no route to it can be found, the program automatically tries the next one in turn.

Data format

The forex historical data may be installed in the "metastock" data format or in CSV format, or in both formats. Each update appends the latest price information to the installed database(s). Volume is not applicable to forex.

Version 12 of the metastock™ charting program for end-of-day data was released in october 2012. This version can only read data from reuters datalink™. Earlier versions are able to read data supplied by premium data.

The "metastock"-format database can be accessed by any charting or analysis package that reads the "metastock" format. The installation package also includes a basic charting package ("premium charts") for the benefit of subscribers who don't have any suitable charting software of their own. The CSV format files may by be opened directly by microsoft excel.

Premium FX bot review (MT4 EA)

Premium FX bot is a new MT4 expert advisor that promises to be the “new generation of trading.” they claim to be a leader in software development, focused on high quality programming solutions. Today we will be providing a complete review, and letting the community know all the facts.

Launched 08-30-2020, as we write this review, the service has only been on the market just over a month. So who is behind this fresh faced product? Well, this information is not yet disclosed by the vendor. In fact, there is no information provided about the creators of the service at all. We do not know where they are located, who they are, or the type of trading experience they have in the forex markets. This is very basic information that we expect from every single vendor we review. So, it is obviously disappointing, and now the right foot to start this review on.

Premium FX bot review

The premium FX bot website consists of information about the service, portfolio, price, trading results and contact details. As a whole, the website is poorly designed with large empty spaces, squeezed images, and an overwhelming lack of professionalism. It’s really difficult to sign up with any service that looks the way this does, especially when the best forex robots in the market all have professional looking designs.

There’s a few aspects the developer wants us to know immediately. This is that they provide free installation, default settings that work, compatibility with all MT4 brokers and comes with free updates.

The website is clearly written by a trader who speaks english as a second language. This is fine, as native english speaking isn’t a prerequisite to being a good trader. Yet, it is hard to not question the vendors judgement for not hiring a copywriter or at least an editor to analyze their work. In order to be successful in anything, you have to be able to recognize your flaws, and it doesn’t seem like this group is capable of doing this.

Trading strategy

The developers of the premium FX bot provide very little information about their trading strategy. There is an odd paragraph written about how the forex market is a great way to practice live trading skills, but it just seems out of place. They make note of money management and risk allocation, but never anything in a sentence that makes any sense.

This goes to our earlier comments about hiring a writer. It seems as though this developer is unable to get across their ideas properly, which makes the service incredibly unprofessional. They are unable to provide any real information about their trade approach for one reason or another, and will be rated poorly in this section.

For traders interested in the premium FX bot, it is available for $109 to $149 depending on the amount of licenses required. The basic package comes with 1 real account, 1 demo account and goes for $109. The standard package comes with 2 real accounts, 2 demo accounts and goes for $129. Lastly, the pro package comes with 3 real accounts and 3 demo accounts and goes for $149. The price point is affordable, in a range with most automated expert advisors, if not a bit lower than the average.

Trading results

At this point in time the vendor is providing a single FX blue account, and no myfxbook accounts. We much rather prefer myfxbook for trading results, as they have a much more comprehensive verification process to ensure the results being provided are real.

The premium FX bot results are showing a 57% gain over its short 20 day history. During this time, the software placed 29 trades, with a 90% win rate and an average trade length of 7.3 hours. As this is on FX blue, there is no clear information about the potential drawdown, but at this point, only 20 days into the account, it wouldn’t be very clear yet regardless.

From what we see so far, the results are impressive, but we would much rather see them on myfxbook for verification purposes. Based on the quick gains the account is likely utilizing a high risk trading approach, and we will be shocked if it doesn’t crash at some point in the near future.

Conclusion

We really see no reason to recommend the premium FX bot to any of the forex robot nation readers. Maybe this will change in the future, but the overall unprofessional nature of the website and lack of transparency isn’t something we plan on overlooking. They know all of our critiques now, so it’s really up to the development team to analyze the feedback and respond to it in kind. We will check back soon and see if they’ve made any changes.

The risk premium for equity and debt investments

Investors have several options for investing their money to make a profit. They can choose between these options depending on the risk which they can afford to take and the returns which they are looking for. Usually, the united states government bonds called treasury bills (T-bills) are considered risk free since the possibility of default is very low. When the maturity period is more than ten years, the bonds are called treasury bonds or T-bonds. Since this T- bills and T-bonds are risk-free, there are many investors, and the returns on this debt are fairly low. For getting better returns, investors should be willing to take risks.

Risk premium

The risk premium is the additional return which the investor will get on his or her investment for taking the risk of investing. The investor can invest either in fixed insurance securities or bonds issued by companies, mutual funds, or stocks of companies, which all have some risk compared to treasury bills. There is a risk that the company will default and not pay back the principal and interest for company bonds. For equity investments, there is a possibility that the share prices will decrease, and no dividends will be paid to the investor.

Historically, investors’ returns in the stock market have been higher than the returns for debt or bond investors over the long term. Hence most investors who wish to get the best possible returns for their investment invest at least part of their money in the stock market. However, there is no guarantee that these investors will always profit in the short term since the stock market prices fluctuate rapidly due to several macroeconomic, political, and other factors. Hence the equity investor expects an equity risk premium to compensate him for taking the risk of investing in shares.

Risk premium formula

The risk premium formula shows that the return of a security is equal to the risk-free return plus a risk premium, based on the beta of that security that analysts and investors use .

There are several formulas for calculating the risk premium, depending on the kind of investment. For all kinds of investments, the risk premium is as follows

Risk premium = a – rf

Where ra is the returns from the specific asset or investment, while rf is the return from the risk-free investment

Another parameter that is also calculated is the market risk or risk of investing in the stock market, which is calculated as follows :

Market risk premium = rm – rf

Where rm is the average return for the stock market and rf returns on investments that are risk-free. The average stock market returns are usually based on the returns for many stocks, typically market indices like the dow or S&P 500. The market risk is also called the systemic risk since all stocks are affected.

The risk premium for a specific stock

On the other hand, the unsystematic risk is the risk that is associated only with a specific stock that is chosen by the investor. If the investor diversifies his investment portfolio, his risk will become more similar to the market risk. Hence investors are often advised to diversify their investment. The returns for the stock include the increase in the share price and dividends.

For calculating the risk premium for a particular stock, the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) has been used as follows

Where ra is the expected returns for the stock and ba or beta for the stock is an indicator of the volatility or risk involved. Conventionally the volatility of the market is set as 1, so if the stock is as volatile as the market, the risk of the stock is the same as the market.

This can be reworked to form the risk premium for a specific stock = ra – rf= ba (rm-rf)

There are other models for calculating the risk premium like gordon’s growth model where

Where k is the expected returns in percentage, D = dividend per share, P = price of shares, g = annual growth in dividend

Another way to calculate the expected return uses the inverse of the P/E ratio

Where k= expected return, E is the earnings per share for the previous twelve months, P = share prices. These methods do not consider the fluctuations in the share prices over a period of time. In reality, the stock market is cyclical, and prices may fluctuate rapidly.

The risk premium for equities

Though the stock prices will vary over the short term and may give negative returns, experts agree that the stock market will compensate the investor more for taking the risk of investing than debt. In the short term, the risk premium for stock investors is typically 3%, while in the long term of thirty years or more, the risk premium for those who invest in equities is 5.5%. Some cfos estimate that when compared to the T-bills, the risk premium for shares is 5.6%, and if T-bonds are considered, the risk premium is estimated at 3.8%. Due to the tech and internet sector boom, the risk premium of the stock market increased. It is usually impossible to predict the risk premium on equity investments, though investors can use the historical information available to choose their investment.

Risk for debt

Though the returns on bonds and debt are more predictable than equities, there is always some risk involved. For bonds, the interest rate and duration of the bond are defined. However, some companies may not repay the interest and the principal amount, resulting in default, loss of money for the investor. Hence, while investing in bonds offering a higher interest rate, the investor has to consider the risk premium and the chance of default by the bond issuer.

Other considerations

Though T-bonds and T-bills are used extensively for calculating the risk-free returns, they do not consider inflation. Hence it is advisable to use treasury inflation protected securities (also called TIPS) for the calculations. Additionally, the taxes on the various investments should be considered before choosing a particular option since these can adversely affect the investment’s overall returns.
